Hey guys, search "Lady of the Evening" on facebook for the fan page of a short film a director friend of mine is working on. It's about a Catholic priest and his friendship with a female prostitute. Big redemption theme. We're trying to network the film. Let me know what you think!

I appreciate the comments on this site, thanks to all who shared. It is good to know I am not alone in my struggle and my vision to serve the Lord through this creative process called filmmaking.
I also appreciate the input and advise on editing my doc. I realized I needed more variety, so am shooting a class room scene on Aug 4 have 4 speakers 25 students. I would appreciate prayers for this shoot/project. The financing for this this low budget work is through a non-profit I founded 5 years ago, called "Teen Care". We hope to have a completed (25 min) Christ centered anti-drug abuse Ed film ready to market this fall. I am a bit overwhelmed by this project, my experience is limited and the longest doc I've ever done is a 7 min piece for college.

Erik, Thanks for the insight. I'm not really hooked-up with to many social groups. I do have a Facebooks page, but that's really it, and I just got that this year after attending NRB. See my background is more TV than movies. It was about three years ago I met Dr. Ted Baehr, and he's the one who has really pointed me in the direction of making movies. Except I do not have any movie production experience. I tried to get experience, but here's where the problem comes in. Back when Katrina hit New Orleans all the movie business moved north to Shreveport. I tried to get plugged in, and the only work I got was painting some sets on one movie, and then got bumped off when a union painter showed up. I've even been trained on Panavison cameras, and the PA work for camera around here doesn't pay. Either nothing or next to nothing. Right to work law state. See I have a wife, two kids and mortgage, and they all like to eat. Especially that mortgage company. I mean one of my friends is the film commissioner here, and I did my best to help get the word out, how we needed this and needed that to build up the all the trades for Hollywood. I even stood up in a meeting with a hundred or so people, and told everyone Hollywood will not stick around if we don't meet there needs with the trades. I got no where. I could have gotten further by soaking up the Pacific with a Shamwow than what happened here. I even contacted the stage hands union president in New Orleans to try and orginize the union in Shreveport, and all I got was yelled at over the phone, then had the phone slammed down in my ear. So I pretty much washed my hands of the movie business here, just like I did in LA in 1987. Back then though I was only robbed for everything I owned. Well except a pair of pants and a frezbee, and my motorcycle. See I work in entertainment for almost 15 years, eight of that as a stand-up comic. I finally gave it all up in 1993. Then six years ago I decided to get back into entertainment. I wasn't sure where to start. I just knew that God had given me a lot of talent, and I needed to use it to glorify him. I still feel like that. I just needed to figure out where to go. So I made some demo car commericals with a friend, and nothing happened. Then I was asked to develope a morning show which I would be one of the executive producers and host. Then my co-EP, who was handling all the money, never came through with any money for my part, so I walked after a half dozen episodes. Two episodes after that the show was pulled. Then last year I pitched the program director from the same station an idea for a Christian music video show. He loved the idea. So I made a pilot. It's pretty rough, we really don't have the greatest production facilties around here, but it gave he the basic idea for the show. Unforturnately, because of the economy he bauked on the pilot. One nice things, I had two different people at the NRB conference look at my pilot and they liked it. I'm holding it now so I can make the next version of the show. One of the people said they even knew an international market for the show. But, then I'm right back to what else, the money. So all in all I guess I should really be considered a struggling TV producer, and not a wantabe or struggling movie producer. A good friend of mine told me that making movies is easier than TV. I don't know. I do know this, I love God with all my heart, and I want to do whatever it takes to make great family oriented, faith based content. If holding a camera is all I do for the rest of my life, that's fine. Just as long as I do it for God, and to try and win one more for Jesus. I'm good with that. I've got to run. You have a blessed evening. Let me know how you'd like to chat...e-mail or whatever.

Just popping in here to say "hi!" My brother-in-law and I are still in major Act I revisions of our feature film script...we received very positive feedback from Act One script coverage, but are slogging away at it...well into draft 8.

My encouragement to all writers and filmmakers out there...stay the course!

Jack.... besides this group, there are numerous sites such as christian-movie.com which can be a big help to you with ideas and encouragement. Also some wonderful Facebook sites where info and ideas are exchanged on a daily basis. Hopefully you're already hooked up with them.
Not sure what your track record is, but in my own experience I've found that as I've been faithful with smaller projects (ten films so far) and gotten all my investors money back to them, plus a profit, God has opened bigger and bigger doors for me. It's important to remember that it's a business as well as a ministry and that we need to be faithful stewards in both areas. Would love to chat with you sometime... God bless!

I'm very excited to find somewhere that there are other Christians working in the business. I'm trying my best right now to network with other Christian who are interested in useing their God given talents for the Lord. Thanks Tina for turning me onto this this community. Now I just need to find some work.

For myself I've been trying to put together family oriented, faith based projects, without much success. I know the lord directs my path, and he will open the doors he wants me to go through. My biggest obstacle has been the funding. Writers, shooters, editors, and directors, no problem. Even the state of Louisiana is giving a 30% tax credit now. You can even sell 25% back to the state. I just learned about that yesterday. Nevertheless, I'm glad to find a online community of fellow Christians. My comfort lately has been in Joshua 1: 6-9, Be strong and of good courage. Sooner or later the Lord will open the right door for me.

Have a blessed week.

I am so glad that the Lord has led me to this online community.
There are so many things to be done and it is a blessing to see fellow believers joining together to reach out to the world in new and creative ways!
God bless and thanks for having me!

Not sure where you're located, Renee, but here's one possibility... most large churches (such as RockHarbor, my church) have a staff member responsible for shooting/editing short videos of upcoming events/mission trips, etc. You might talk to someone like that and ask if they can help you put the footage together in their spare time. Most of these guys are hoping to move up to bigger projects and it will help them build their resume.

PRAYER NEEDED!!!!
I have a been working on a doc for about a year and I have 15-20 hours of good footage, interviews and B roll, my problem is I just cant seem to get in there and edit this. I did get 7 min. of it done because I had a deadline for a class, but finishing it is a problem. I feel frozen up and overwhelmed at the daunting task of turning this all into a 25 min film. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
